SILVER STAR MOUNTAIN DO00 Near Vernon ,BC

SILVER STAR MOUNTAIN (6280 ft) in DO00 is a great radio location. Thanks to the development of the ski resort and village (at 5280 ft)on the mountain ,there is easy access to many good locations for radio operation and stay the night .You can rent a cabin with power at 6000 + ft! Winter or summer this location is fantastic. In the summer you can take a 4x4 road to the top for a 360 view or hike one of the many trails.Great site for a family vacation and ham radio at the same time.I have operated mobile and portable 2 and 6 meters from this site numerous times with great results. To get there Google map it,or ask any one in Vernon ,BC they will give you directions. It is very easy to get to from the main hwy (97n)through town.Best dx and 73s!

MOUNT SEYMOUR (1455m)CN89 North Vancouver

Those in Vancouver BC area know this mountain well. There is lots of information on the internet on how to get there and what services are available so I will not post it here.It is only about an hour leisurely ride on a good paved road to the main parking lots at Mt Seymour park. The view is Fantastic of Vancouver and its suburbs as well as Vancouver Island,Gulf Islands and northern coast of Washington state including Mt Baker in the distance. So for a radio operation ,the location is great in all directions except the north, which is blocked by the peak. The parking lot area is at approx 1200m and there are lots of small pull outs on the way up the parkway with great views to the south as well.I operated portable from here many years ago when I lived in the Vancouver area with great results.Try it out when you can for fun.If you are inclined there are good hiking trails on up to the top of the mountain as well as a chairlift .Best dx and 73s
